On 2 May 2024, SIAH signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Local Food Producers Association. This agreement allows SIAH to use the market facility at Anse la Mouche twice a week for educational purposes, with both parties mutually agreeing on specific days and hours.

SIAH registered five learners for the IGCSE who sat for their theoretical exam in October. SIAH also introduced the IGCSE Programme to the 1st year Diploma learners expected to sit for their examination in 2026. We are also proud to announce that the Institute received a certificate and recognition as a Centre for IGCSE agriculture in March 2024, representing one of the most achievable milestones for the Institute.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) celebrated a milestone on Thursday,11 July 2024, by completing the Shade House project at the Seychelles Institute of Agriculture and Horticulture (SIAH). H.E. Flavien Joubert, Minister of Agriculture, Climate Change, and Environment (MACCE); Ms. Amanda Serumaga, UNDP Resident Representative for Mauritius and Seychelles; representatives from SIAH; and press members attended the ceremony. The new infrastructure will serve as a practical demonstration site for climate-smart agriculture and facilitate educational workshops for farmers, advancing critical knowledge and skills for sustainable farming practices. 

The Seychelles Institute of Agriculture and Horticulture (SIAH) conducted a thorough review and resubmitted the applications for the accreditation of two certificate programs to the Seychelles Qualifications Authority. The program in General Agriculture was awarded full certification on 25 September 2024. In addition, the Ornamental Horticulture and Landscaping certificate achieved full accreditation on 27 November 2024.

The Seychelles Institute of Agriculture and Horticulture, in partnership with the landscape and waste management agency, met and discussed the potential development of a short course for registered landscaping contractors. This course is designed to improve the skills and technical knowledge of the LWMA registered landscaping contractors. The course aims to provide valuable learning experiences that enable them to bid for landscaping contracts successfully. The course focuses on the growing need for qualified landscapers in the horticultural and landscaping industry. After submitting the accreditation application to the SQA, SIAH received full accreditation for the course on 25 September 2024.
